How to Plan Your YouTube Content

How to Create 60 Days of Social Media and Video Content in 8 Hours

Would you believe that I used to spend an entire day just to film one video? What a waste of time! I mean, we have businesses to manage, and a team to lead, and a family to balance. Now, we batch film six months of content in three days, and I’m going to show you how we do it.

The first step in planning your YouTube videos is to write out all the YouTube scripts, starting from the title, to the intro, the body, the meat and the potatoes, and then including the call to action, so I know exactly where I want to drive traffic to. This can be completely scripted, and you can read it off of a teleprompter, or you can put it into bullet-point form, and feel free to adlib.

Planning out your scripts in advance is so important because when you know exactly what you’re talking about and what you need to say, it’s easier to stay on track, and to stay productive. We do this for all of our clients. In fact, we wrote 52 scripts for one of our clients that we recorded in three days. Typically we do six months of content in three days, but we have one client that, she got a lot done, and you can too.

The second step in the process is storyboarding. By the time you’re ready to film, you need to know exactly what you need to create effective visuals, and to keep your audience engaged. So what we do is we have our script written out, and we’ll also have kind of bullet points next to it of what we want that to look like, where that’s going to take place. And then having the shots of what’s the B-roll that we need to get on top. What are the elements or any sort of things that we want to be able to storyboard what happens in all of these places so that when we’re filming, we know exactly the sequence of what we need to film so that we can be most effective and efficient with our time.

The third step in the process, set aside time to film. Now that you have your scripts, your storyboard, and a solid plan, all you need to do is hit the record button and work your magic.

The fourth step, once you have all of your videos filmed, which we like to batch film, do it all in one sitting, now you can also batch edit your videos. You can do this yourself, or you can outsource this step. What we do is we’ll upload all of the videos to Google Drive, whether we’re doing it ourselves, or outsourcing it to someone else, just so that we also have a backup. Gosh, it would be terrible if you spent a whole day batch filming, and then something happened to your computer, it went down, you lost all your footage. And it’s also nice to have that backlog and this kind of library of your videos because then you can use it for B-roll or for future videos. And then either, if you’re going to do it yourself, you can then create the library of your produced and edited content, or you can hire editors to be able to support you with that. And a common question I get is, “Where can I find editors?” They’re all over the place. You can look in Facebook groups, you can hire from Upwork or online jobs, Indeed.com, and find the right fit.

And the fifth step in the process is to create a consistent schedule for release days and promote, promote, promote. So as of right now, our release days are every Thursday. Every Thursday we put out a YouTube video, and from that, repurpose all of the content. So we’ll have one YouTube video, and turn that into multiple mini videos, teasers, Instagram stories, IGTV, and we create a calendar schedule of when each of those videos gets released. So now we have this ecosystem of content driving to the YouTube channel, which is then driving to the call to action, which is helping increase leads and sales, and generating all of the business that your heart desires.

Imagine having a 24/7 salesperson driving traffic and leads all day, every day. That’s what you’ll find when you intentionally plan out your YouTube content. And it’s not only going to save you time on creating and filming but allows you to have videos on autopilot for months to come.
