How many times each week do you find yourself scrolling through social media or YouTube videos and hear a version of this, “what is your why, find your why, stick with your why, understand your why.”

I know for me, I see or hear something like that nearly every day.

But do you know what I don’t hear a lot about? People explaining the importance of defining your why.

When I began Marley Baird Media years ago, I started out, probably like many of you, with my why, seeking something that would provide more time, freedom, and the ability to prioritize my family and relationships. It didn’t take long, though, and I found myself in a position where I compromised those plans, compromised my why. Sure, I knew exactly what I was providing for my clients, but I lost myself in the daily hustle and grind. I worked myself past exhaustion to nearly experiencing a mental breakdown, completely forgetting about the vision that started it all.

The amazing thing is, I hear this story from many of you every single day. It’s not an isolated incident or something that we all can’t relate to.

You feel like you’re in the rat race, too, a constant hustle to make it out of the red this month, to sign a client only to lose another one. It’s consuming, and if you allow it to, it’s a fire that can never be contained, burning through every element of your why.

There’s really only one way to stop the destruction, you have to suffocate the fire, you have to.

If you’re like me, if you had to hit pause on your business to pivot and restructure, it can be a scary journey full of uncertainty and doubt.

How do we even begin? Are you wasting time searching for your why instead of defining it? Most people will ask you, well, what’s your purpose? What do you want to do? And if you don’t know the answers to these questions, it can become frustrating, even more confusing, and it can have you feeling lost and discouraged.

I’m not here to give you the answers to what your calling is. But what I will do is ask you some different questions that might help bring you clarity.

If your business ceased to exist tomorrow, who would be affected? If your business pulled the plug today, what gap would you leave in the community? If you decided that entrepreneurship is no longer for you, what life-changing message would the world be missing out on?

These questions shift the focus on self-interest to focusing on using our gifts and talents to make a positive impact on other people so that they can find personal and financial freedom, too.

How does your business make an impact? How does your message call others out and up? If you have to find this, you could be chasing your tail forever.

So instead of chasing your tail, I’ve created a free handbook for you that you can download so that you can not only understand your why, but to turn you into a thought leader and make an even bigger impact with your content, right now, today. Get my Thought Leader Handbook here.
